Mary MacKillop College provides students with alternate pathways in their learning that contribute to both QCE points and Rank comparable scores. Students may select from available nationally recognised certificate options ranging from a Certificate II to Diploma Level or engage in a School-based Traineeship/Apprenticeship as part of their studies. Students also have the opportunity to explore university level studies through an early start program.
Students can access VET in a variety of ways including courses delivered at school via a third-party RTO courses delivered through private Registered Training Organisations, TAFE and through school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
The Role of Vet Certificates in Applying for Tertiary Courses
Some Universities will accept VET qualifications (Cert III or higher) as a pathway into a range of university courses. Individual universities will publish which courses VET qualification can be used for entry. Please note that some universities won’t accept a VET qualification for entry.
Students are reminded that VET qualifications of Certificate III and above can be utilised within an ATAR calculation under a “4 + 1” enrolment pattern.
Details of course descriptions can be found in the Senior Subject Selection Handbook or visiting the websites of our partner organisations. Search the RTO numbers (indicated above) on www.training.gov.au
